Get Involved

          Pass Your Hat is a great way to get the Midland Empire involved in Oprah's Big Give with the Show-Me Tractor Cruise for Camp Quality of Northwest Missouri.  Donations and contributions will all be given to Camp Quality
          Let's show ABC, Oprah's Big Give and our Midland Empire communities what we're able to do when everyone comes together, each contributing a little to put together a Big Give.



          Who Can be Involved:  Individuals, companies, civic clubs and organizations, fraternities, sororities, students, athletes...anyone who wants to pass your hat among your network of friends, family and co-workers.

          How to Participate:  It's simple.  Take a hat (or a bucket, shoebox or other container) and pass it among the employees at your job, club, organization or among friends, collecting funds for Camp Quality.  Issue challenges for each person to give $1, $5 or more.  Combining these donations together will add up to a Big Give for Camp Quality.
          We encourage companies who participate in the Pass Your Hat promotion to consider a matching pledge.  While not required, this is another great way to grow the impact the Midland Empire can have for Camp Quality.

          When to Pass Your Hat:  To take advantage of Oprah's $10,000 pledge, Pass Your Hat continues through April 9th.  Ideally, communities in the Midland Empire will cooperatively Pass Your Hat during the week of March 30th.  On April 10th, KQTV will host a telethon from 5:00 -6:30pm with the Show-Me Tractor Cruise for Camp Quality.  Representative from businesses, clubs and organizations will be able to present their hat and contributions during this live broadcast (make sure you e-mail us to let us know you're participating).  KQTV will display your company logo, along with the name of the designated person from your group. You'll make the announcement as to how much was raised at this time. If you plan on participating during the telethon on KQTV, you must e-mail us by April 6th that you're planning on participating so we can make plans for the broadcast.

          What Resources Are Availble: Visit our Resources page using the link above to download a generic poster (or one that can be personalized), web ad or press release.  Put the posters up in your workplace and pass them around at your next club event.  Include the web ads on your company website and forward them in an e-mail to your family, friends and co-workers.

          Where Donations Go:  Bring the donations, along with your hat to KQTV on April 10th.  If you can't make it to the telethon on KQTV on April 10th, send your donations and a hat that can be displayed to 3204 Dale Avenue, St. Joseph, MO  64506.

          Why Get Involved:  There are no fees to the campers, their families or companions to come to Camp Quality each summer--donations from generous contributors help keep the camp free for everyone involved.  Donations keep the camp and all of Camp Quality's year-round activities free for children and their families.  By being a part of Pass Your Hat, you'll continue to make these opportunities available.  Individual donations do make a difference...working together, we can be a part of a Big Give for Camp Quality!

          Who is Organizing Pass Your Hat?  The Show-Me Tractor Cruise has conducted a day long parade of antique and classic tractors to raise funds for Camp Quality of Northwest Missouri since 2003.  After being selected for as a recipient of a $10,000 pledge from ABC's 'Oprah's Big Give,' we felt like the Pass Your Hat campaign would be a great way to get the surrounding communities involved in a unique way.
